Digital Awareness Campaign "unplug."

c l i c k  t o  e n l a r g e

This poster campaign addresses the issue of internet overuse. Surrounding digital wellness, a major problem we have in our society today is the overuse of social media platforms, streaming websites, and technology in general. This issue is deteriorating our mental, physical, and emotional health, and we have to learn when enough is enough. As young adults and teens, we use the internet as a way to express ourselves. However, we need to know when the amount of technology we have become using is unhealthy, and when to unplug. For my poster, I decided to use a picture of someone using a smartphone on the app Instagram. This is because I felt many more viewers would relate to the message by seeing a familiar sight, as well as because Instagram has become one of the most draining and negatively effecting app we use today. The message I am trying to spread is that we are spending way too much time on the internet, social media especially. According to CNN, based on a Nielsen Company audience report, the average American spends ten hours and thirty-nine minutes consuming media in one day. That's ten hours every day of your life that you could be experiencing the world, living your life, and bettering yourself instead of watching someone else do it. I hope this message will convince teens and young adults to finally put down their phone, and pick up a soccer ball, paint brush, guitar, pointe shoe or pencil. In conclusion, the message here is to stop spending so much time on technology that it has become unhealthy. It has been way too long my. It's time to unplug.
