Journal #8: Digital Law


       In this unit, I found the most surprising thing to be how many types of copyrights there are, and the number of law combinations there are. However, I didn't really find anything that confusing or information hard to locate as mostly everything was explained pretty clearly. Most of the videos were also very helpful when explaining the topics in this unit, as they had many examples and visuals included in the presentations. I think the website NeedHelpNow.com is a very helpful and resourceful page for young people looking for information or help on cyber bullying. It offers different tips, examples, help and information on all different types of situations that a variety of teens struggle with. The biggest issue with young people when it comes to copyright is that students seem to have become too slack. Most people, do not understand the consequences and do not take copyright/infringement seriously. The biggest issue with  young people when it comes to cyber bullying and/or privacy is also that teens are too slack about this issue as well. People do not understand the consequences when it comes to sharing privacy violating photos online and spreading hate. Cyber bullying is not taken seriously and most people do not realize the impact their words can have on others when they post them.

My Basic Automobile Design

Freeze Machine*         I decided to use a van/SUV type of body style to base my design off of, I got the idea of designing a little ice cream truck then went from there. Some features that I would want included in the final design that I may not have been able to include in this basic first phase design are just little things like doors on the sides and in the back, a sliding door that opens up the side window, and added details on things like the ice cream cone on the top. I will name my car the Freeze Machine* and I think perhaps an ice cream company paired with any car manufacturer would be best suited to introduce my car into the industry. Any type of driver that sells ice cream would most likely find my car appealing as it would attract attention to their company. I would place this assignment at a 6/10 for difficulty as it took a bit of time to get used to Tinkercad's controls and to come up with a creative idea for the design.

Journal Entry #3: Digital Rights and Responsibilities

      What I find to be the most surprising when it comes to digital rights and responsibilities is how little people pay attention to them. Many times, as I am scrolling through Facebook or Instagram,  I see so many disrespectful comments, post and statuses, sometimes even directed towards specific people. However, I do believe that most people do act responsibly online, posting to share with their friends and family, commenting positive things, and thinking before they post.  If I had to pick one commandment out of the ten I created, the most important to me would be,  " Thou shall respect people of other languages, cultures, sexual orientation and religion while online." I think this one is the most important as I see the most hate spread about these topics on social medias.
