Journal Entry #3: Digital Rights and Responsibilities

What I find to be the most surprising when it comes to digital rights and responsibilities is how little people pay attention to them. Many times, as I am scrolling through Facebook or Instagram,  I see so many disrespectful comments, post and statuses, sometimes even directed towards specific people. However, I do believe that most people do act responsibly online, posting to share with their friends and family, commenting positive things, and thinking before they post.  If I had to pick one commandment out of the ten I created, the most important to me would be,  " Thou shall respect people of other languages, cultures, sexual orientation and religion while online." I think this one is the most important as I see the most hate spread about these topics on social medias. Among young people , I think the biggest issue surrounding digital rights and responsibilities is respect and privacy. These days it seems people are not satisfied with living th...

Journal Entry #2: Digital Communication

When it comes to digital communication, what I've found the most surprising is how many different types of digital communication there are today. For example, messaging. There is SMS messaging, messaging through Instagram , through  Facebook , through P interest ,  Twitter ,  Snapchat, email, and many more. It seems almost overwhelming. Blind Carbon copy or BCC is used whilst sending a file or message through email that allows the sender of a message to conceal the person(s) entered in the Bcc:  field from the other recipients. This feature can be applied in circumstances when you do not want people to know who some of the other recipients are like in confidential job emails or even invitations to p...

Journal Entry #1: Digital Security

When it comes to digital security and creating passwords, what I find the most surprising is how easy it is for computers to figure out passwords nowadays. It is kinda mind blowing how much thought you have to put into a single password.  When I tested the password I created or the one I most commonly use, the website told me it would take a computer 3 thousand years to crack. Based on the information in this section, I think most of my passwords are not secure enough. I usually choose things that are easier to remember  when creating passwords and don't give them very much thought, after all most passwords I create are only for social media sites. KeePas  however, offers features that would help with managing my passwords like a master password that consist of all your passwords put together into one. As well as strong security, multiple user keys, and a strong random password generator. However, when c...
